Aug 30, 2010· I believe the THV ammo went away in the same manner as the Geco 9 mm BAT round. I think the were deemed illegal. I know I used to buy the BAT round from Old Western Scrounger and they came back the last time I tried to order them and they said that the BAT round would no longer be available and this was at least 15 to 20 years ago.
Dec 15, 2009· We were issued some 5.56 made in France in a shape akin to these. They were designed to pierce body armor. My favorite was some 357 we tested, one was Teflon coated 357, that I suspect could be shot through the robber glass in a bank and reloaded....the other one had an explosive charge in the nose also 357.

The French THV hollow bullet had an overall low density and a very high muzzle velocity. The restricted-penetration glaser bullet is similarly low density. For handguns, density isn't that much of an issue as the lighter weight, lower density bullets (copper or steel) simply emerge from the muzzle faster.
