The reduction degree was based on the total weight of oxygen which combined with the iron in ore, and measured by means of the loss-in-weight method. It was found that the reduction velocity became higher in the sequence of magnetite→hematite→limonite, and that the higher the porocity of each kind of ores the higher the reduction velocity.
Fe content was 56.2wt%..These results showed that the Agbaja iron ore reduced more at 800 ͦC for 120 minutes (40.7wt %) followed by 1000 ͦC for 120 minutes (56.2wt %) and the least reduced heating period and time was when the iron ore samples was heated at 920 ͦC for 120 minutes (60.2wt %). The addition of lime and/or silica (up to about 10% total) to sintered synthetic hematite pellets has little effect on the reducibility at 900°C.
