The mill was constructed in 1901 at the Paymaster Mine and was relocated to the Trinity County Historical Society in 1984. Gene Goodyear, Billy Richards and Bob Hamilton were owners of the mine. The three men located the claim on September 14, 1901 and the mine shutdown in 1915. This mill is powered by a wood-fed steam boiler that actually works.
